Step inside one of the few surviving buildings from Brisbane's convict settlement.

The Commissariat Store takes you back almost as far as European Brisbane can go. Built in 1828–29 using convict labour, it was part of the Moreton Bay penal settlement and is one of only a handful of structures from that period still standing. Its heavy stone walls once held supplies for the settlement. Today the building houses the Royal Historical Society of Queensland and provides a rare physical connection to Brisbane before it became a free settlement, a municipality or a city.
