Brisbane gave contemporary art a huge riverside home — and changed its cultural identity with it.
Brisbane's Gallery of Modern Art (GOMA) opened in 2006 beside QAG and greatly expanded Brisbane’s cultural precinct. Its focus reaches across contemporary Australian, Asian and Pacific art, film and major international exhibitions, making it one of the city’s strongest arguments against the old idea that Brisbane is culturally sleepy.
