Walk Through South Bank's Rainforest

South Bank is best known for beaches, restaurants and crowds, but tucked inside the Parklands is something much quieter: a little pocket of subtropical rainforest. Follow the raised boardwalk beneath palms, figs and dense greenery and, for a few minutes, the city almost disappears. It's part of what makes South Bank such an unusual piece of Brisbane. The Parklands grew from the site transformed for World Expo 88, turning what had once been wharves, industry and railway land into Brisbane's subtropical public backyard. Today the Rainforest Walk is one of its easiest places to slip away from the bustle and experience the greener side of the city.
