Swim at Streets Beach

South Bank

Map →

Go for a swim at a 'beach' in the middle of Brisbane.

Streets Beach is the wonderfully improbable centrepiece of South Bank: an artificial lagoon edged with white sand and subtropical planting, directly across the river from the CBD. It’s one of those Brisbane experiences that sounds unusual until a hot day makes it completely logical. Don’t stop at the lagoon, though — keep wandering through South Bank to find the extensive water-play areas nearby.

Good to know

It’s free to use and lifeguarded year-round, although patrol hours vary. Check for pool closures annually during the cooler months for maintenance. The pool is not heated so can be a bit chilly in the winter months.
